Right at the end of a long day and the only thing standing in the way of getting tucked up in a warm dry hut, and tucked into our dinner, is a giant knob of rock few hundred metres high right in the way! A nice flat valley and somehow there’s a huge dome outcrop popped out of nowhere. This is a badly designed valley layout! :) And so, to speed up ‘Operation Tea Time’ we decide to stuff it and wade up the river to get round it instead ;) Soggy boots can dry by the fire eh!
It was getting pretty hot, the sun was shining above and the reflective sand round here was bouncing it back up again from below. Just before the hut we had the choice of climbing over the ‘Annoying Knob’, or going round the side which required fording the Wilkin Again, an easy decision the Wilkin was only shin deep up here and crossing it was quite a pleasure, it felt like having air conditioning in your boots :)
