The largest of the three, and surrounded by the collapsing powdery slopes of the glacial moraine. Such an unnatural landscape, it made you feel tentative, like a privileged guest.
The heaviness of the translucent milky green blue water created a strange stillness, an unfamiliar almost secretive quality, knowing not what depths held underneath. A stunningly beautiful and atmospheric spot.
Fantastic opaque turquoise water :) For those interested this is caused by the grinding up of rock by glacial movement causing ‘Glacial Flour’, which is so fine it is suspended in the water rather than sinking to the bottom. This cloudy opaque water is sometimes called Glacial Milk.
