Once we’d finally negotiated the long boulder strewn valley up to the final lake, we were all a bit hot and sweaty! But I’m still not that convinced it was excuse enough to strip off and jump into an icy lake! …. Stand-by with the hot coffee!
Impressively posed dive here from Cookie. Points for enthusiasm for sure :)
Lake Castalia was completely ringed by shear rock walls with numerous waterfalls cascading down from the glacier high above. Not sure when this lake was formed, but it must of been quite recently – there was an old map in the hut which didn’t have it on?
According to Wikipedia – “Castalia, in Greek mythology, was a nymph whom Apollo transformed into a fountain at Delphi. Castalia could inspire the genius of poetry to those who drank her waters or listened to their quiet sound.”
Me and Nico thought we’d go one better and jump in it, lets see what that inspires, other than hypothermia..!
