So this is what all the fuss is all about, getting to the top of that 100-metre waterfall at the head of this valley. I almost decided not to attempt this whole section because of the grim warnings made about this short climb. But after consideration I thought it’s not the end of the world if we don’t make it over, we can always hike back out the Wilkin Valley to Makarora and make a circular walk of it.
