Butcher’s Saddle is just after Richards Knob. There’s lots of knobs in these ‘ere hills. And also some scarier sounding places like Hell’s Gate. Hope my knees can withstand the battering they’re getting from the weight of this rucksack :) There’s some fiddley footwork to be performed at swift speed too. Pretty easy to get your feet caught up in some gnarly roots and get a mouth full of moss and cobwebs! Blergh.
Progress is generally much easier and direct high up on the ridges, when the trail drops down below the bush line everything seems to take much longer as the track has to wiggle around all the fallen obstacles.
