A tiny speck on the rocky flats sits the ultra rugged chunk of metal that is Mueller Hut. The robust doors heavy to shut and fitted with weighty metal bar swing leavers to prevent blowing open in the snowy winds, or marauding yetis from attacking … Or worse… Is it Kea protection ? Who knows which is the most powerful force.
Here’s some facts for you – Mueller Hut and the glacier below are named after Baron Sir Ferdinand Jacob Heinrich von Mueller, how about that for a name! Mt Ollivier (1,933 m) is named after mountaineer Arthur Ollivier, but most notably it was first mountain Sir Edmund Hillary ever climbed in 1939. Just 14 years later he’d be standing on top of Mt Everest, fancy that next eh Nicky?!
Surreal. It looks like a miniaturized movie set.
