Slightly gutted after climbing down all those stairs in the rain to find not only a pin code on the DOC hut but the phone number to call scrubbed out on the door. Very helpful ;) But in fact we had a great night’s sleep in the tent anyhow, and some great company in the form of Kim – a chatty amiable Flemish chap, and fellow hiker-camper. We shared stories and drunk some of Cookie’s new invention ( Dark Rum and Raspberry cocktail ) from our tin cups, and chatted til the mozzies started to nibble and the sun was getting low. An unexpectedly social end to the day! It’s funny what you find in the forest.
We had planned to get further than Peach Cove today, but what looked like a scenic ridge walk on the map turned out to be a steep slow progress forest trail.. As we got to the Peach Cove turn off the heavens opened up and since the path down seemed in ridiculously good condition we decided it must be fate that we spend the night at the hut.
