A beautiful ‘A’ shaped snow hut awaited us in Makarora. Super luxury! A flush toilet? Wow! By now we’ve begun to refer to all our accommodation as ‘huts’ whether in civilisation or the wild.
We’ve started to transform into yetis I think. We are almost ferrel. I am the only one now without a ‘hiking beard’. I vow to buy one at the next shop and glue it on.
Arriving in Makarora after the jet boat dropped us off, all we had to do was – Get a beer & Get the bus to Wanaka to bypass Waterfall Face and continue our journey to Queenstown.
“What time is the bus to Wanaka?” we asked,
“2.30pm, except Friday and Saturaday’s”.
It didn’t matter that we’d missed the bus that day, it was Friday, they wouldn’t be another bus until Sunday. So we made ourselves comfortable, in the bar ;)
