There’s been a fair bit of farmland to trek through so far so one of the things you get used to are the fields of black shiny cows suddenly pausing, motionless, starring you out :) It’s slightly unnerving the first time as you wonder if they’re about to rush over the fence! But it’s pretty comedy. Feels very much like you’ve walked into their saloon, the music has scratched to a halt and they’re examining the intruders ;) I think walking with our clanking metal sticks freaks them out a bit. Maybe they’re wondering what new kind of four legged hump-backed cows have just rolled in?
Thinking we’d avoided the closed section, we came across this sign. Due to lambing apparently, so should re-open soon? Shame they didn’t put this sign at the beginning of the track instead of a mile and a half down the road..
Haha – Alex and I thought the same at this point… it’s so kind of them to make us walk so far up the road until you figure out it’s closed…. bummer. Hope all is well with you guys!! :D (Alex and I have made it to Auckland as of Nov. 26) — keep us posted!
